Services

The unnatural “50-minute therapy office hour” places creative constraints on therapists that can result in burnout for both clinicians and clients. Our workshops address this challenge by using engaging, somatic, and holistic tools that make the serious work of pursuing wellness a little easier and a lot more experiential, so that clients can engage and sustain the work of healing more deeply and for longer periods of time.

Here’s our current list of workshops:

  • Movie Wellness Workshop (popular movies/actors help us understand ourselves) This is the signature workshop that started it all! As therapists, we recognize that sometimes the one-on-one approach common in the wellness field can lose its sparkle, and may be a little uncomfortable–especially to new clients. (For example, research suggests that male clients experience discomfort with the face-to-face format typical in counseling settings.) This is where having 3rd party, non-partisan participants (movie characters) can set examples, offer a less confrontational option, and provide an easy “entry level” conversation starter. Being able to say (especially to “mandated” clients), “Hey, let’s watch some movies!” can provide a great ice breaker. Let Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock, or perhaps Morgan Freeman join your practice, and watch new opportunities for growth evolve.

    • Time commitment: ~ 8 hrs. (2 days, 4 hrs. each day)

    • Cost per person: ~ $400 (includes snacks)

    • Group discounts available for groups of 10+ (call for details)

    • (Participants watch the selected movie independently, then meet at either the clinician’s office for 1:1 therapy or a predetermined location for a group workshop.)

    • CURRENT SELECTIONS AVAILABLE:

      • Inside Out 1 (Joy) - Intro to understanding emotions

      • Captain Phillips (Tom Hanks) - Survival, existential issues, inner strength

      • Sully (Tom Hanks) - Decisions under pressure, challenging relationships, inner strength

      • Shawshank Redemption (Morgan Freeman) - Ethics, morality, and the law; inner strength

  • Growing Inside, Outside (Engaging with our Natural external ecosystem teaches us how to engage with our Internal Natural EcoSystem.) When we talk about “foundation” and “grounding,” on the most basic level, we are talking about our relationship with the Planet we live on, the ecosystem we live in, and the understanding of why this is important to our psychological wellness. Learning outside is how our species evolved, so realigning with that natural process is a huge asset when it comes to helping clients (and ourselves) engage in our own growth and development. In addition, including hands-on (or by-foot) experiential activities goes a long way toward repairing and regrowing the relationship with self, others, and ultimately, the Planet. PLUS, THESE ARE SUPER FUN! (LADIES: This isn’t just “guy stuff”, it’s HUMAN stuff! Get a group of your friends together and come join us!)

    • Time commitment: ~ varies, depending on activity (1 day, 1 weekend, 4 days)

    • Cost per person: ~ $800/day; $1400/weekend (plus lodging*); $2600

    • Group discounts available for groups of 10+ (call for details)

    • CURRENT SELECTIONS AVAILABLE:

      • Blowgun hunt for wellness (Growing instinct, intention, patience, understanding, and more through primitive hunting methods; breath work) - blowgun included Using our breath and instinct to hit a target. Just like our own inner intention setting, this external art helps us grow a relationship with our inner arts. Integrating the food gathering aspect integral to all life, the challenge and growth that learning through the art of the blowgun offers a unique and grounding way to connect to our deepest roots and development.

      • Slingshot hunt for wellness (Growing instinct, intention, patience, understanding, and more through primitive hunting methods) - slingshot included Like the blowgun but with a different tool. Resistance is what moves the projectile forward. Lessons of challenge and its lessons of growth and growing instinct. Lots of similarities to archery but a little easier to pick up and facilitate.

      • Bow drill fire (Re-igniting our relationship with intention, nurturing, patience, and our inner fire through the quintessential art of making fire in the physical world) - bow drill included The intention grower! This is another ancestral “Challenge of Life and Death” reconnection workshop. What’s more quintessential to being human than fire and the use of tools? Using the understanding of nurturing an ember into a flame is such a powerful experience and meditation, it really sticks with us. There’s almost no end to ways this ancestral life skill applies to our inner life skills as well. Come on and light your own inner fire!

      • Barefoot walk-n-connect (The art of stalking) - bring your own feet! More intention work! SLOW DOWN… STOP…NOW TAKE THE NEXT STEP–IN 2 MINUTES! To let your feet touch the earth so subtly that even the microorganisms in the soil won’t notice your presence. Be still enough to LET life move around you with precision and a natural pace so you can see, and ultimately BE, that example yourself. Great for transmuting anxiety!

  • Couples Retreats “Growing Yourselves, Together” (EVERYTHING is related! Understanding Natural laws of interconnectivity help us see how birds relate to bees, flowers relate to trees, and lovers relate to each other.) What’s the best way to have good, healthy relationships with others? Have good, healthy relationships with yourself! Unfortunately, this aspect of relationship health is often overlooked, but when both partners understand and live this out, the relationship can grow. Developing this understanding and the skills needed to facilitate it together is what this workshop is about. Using our personal development tools with some special “couples” specific lessons woven in makes this workshop a healthy (and dare we say “romantic”) event for any couple (LGBTQ+ aligned)
